Mitchell Starc is Likely To Miss the start of IPL

©
Australian fast bowler and man of the series in the recently-concluded ICC Cricket World Cup, Mitchell Starc, is likely to miss the start of Indian Premier League (IPL) season after suffering a minor injury to his knee. Starc, who was sold to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in last year's IPL auction, was advised two weeks of rest making him unavailable for the opening stages of the tournament.
Starc, who captured 22 wickets at an incredible average of 10.18 in the World Cup, has been widely touted to lead a misfiring RCB bowling attack and help improve the team's indifferent performances of recent seasons. Starc's injury compounds RCB's bowling woes - they've also had another of their pace bowling acquisitions, Adam Milne, sidelined due to an injury suffered during the World Cup. In Starc's absence, fellow Sydney Sixers seamer Sean Abbott could make his IPL debut.
With a hectic cricket season ahead for Australian players that includes tours of West Indies and the all-important away Ashes series in July, Cricket Australia are unlikely to risk rushing their star pacer into action.
RCB, led by India Test captain Virat Kohli, will begin their quest for a maiden IPL title with an away game against the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, on March 11.
RCB Squad for IPL 2015:
Virat Kohli, AB de Villers, Chris Gayle, Mitchell Starc, Nic Maddinson, Varun Aaron, Yuzvendra Singh Chahal, Rilee Rossouw, Vijay Zol, Yogesh Takawale, Abu Nechim Ahmed, Harshal Patel, Ashoke Dinda, Sandeep Warrier, Manvinder Bisla, Iqbal Abdullah, Dinesh Karthik, Subramaniam Badrinath, Darren Sammy, Sean Abbott, Adam Milne, David Wiese, Jalaj Saxena, Sarfaraz Naushad Khan, Shishir Bhavane

ICC Announces Team Of Worldcup 2015

Brendon McCullum was chosen as the captain of the team, following his aggressive, innovative and inspirational leadership during the 44-day tournament.
Brendon McCullum named captain of the side that includes five New Zealanders

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the team of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 with Brendon McCullum as its captain.

McCullum was chosen as the captain following his aggressive, innovative and inspirational leadership during the 44-day tournament that was the cornerstone of his team’s progression to the final where it lost to Australia by seven wickets.

In doing so, McCullum also scored 328 runs in nine matches with four half-centuries at a strike-rate of 188.50.

The team was chosen by a select group of experts* who were given the task of picking a balanced side on the basis of performances in the tournament. Statistics were used but were not the sole basis for selections.

In addition to McCullum, the side includes four New Zealanders – Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Martin Guptill, Daniel Vettori – three Australians in Glenn Maxwell, Steven Smith and Mitchell Starc, two South Africans, AB de Villiers and Morne Morkel, with Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara as wicketkeeper-batsman.

Zimbabwe’s Brendan Taylor, who finished with 433 runs in six matches, was named as the 12th man.

Team of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in batting order:

Brendon McCullum (New Zealand (captain)

Martin Guptill (New Zealand)

Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) (wicketkeeper)

Steven Smith (Australia)

AB de Villiers (South Africa)

Glenn Maxwell (Australia)

Corey Anderson (New Zealand)

Daniel Vettori (New Zealand)

Mitchell Starc (Australia)

Trent Boult (New Zealand)

Morne Morkel (South Africa)

Brendan Taylor (Zimbabwe) (12th man)

ICC General Manager – Cricket, Geoff Allardice, chairman of the panel, said: “The panel had an extremely difficult choice of selecting a 12-member squad at the back of an outstanding tournament, highlighted by some eye-catching individual performances including two double-centuries, 38 centuries, two hat-tricks and 28 four-wicket hauls.

“There were a number of other players that were discussed as possible selections in the team. These included batsmen Mahmudullah (Bangladesh) and Shaiman Anwar (UAE), fast bowlers Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami (both India), Wahab Riaz (Pakistan) and spinners Imran Tahir (South Africa) and R.Ashwin (India).

“But there were so many brilliant individual performances during the tournament that it was not possible to fit them into the team. The panel eventually came up with this side, which, in their view, was the most balanced outfit that is capable of beating any side on any given day.”

KKR bring in Botha, Mahmood as replacements

Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions, have recruited Azhar Mahmood and Johan Botha as replacements for the injured pair of James Neesham and Chris Lynn for this IPL season due to begin on April 8.
Neesham, who failed to make New Zealand's World Cup squad, has not regained match fitness after an unspecified injury. He had played four matches for Delhi Daredevils in 2014, was let go and later bought by Knight Riders for Rs 50 lakh during the auction in February.
Lynn was ruled out for 10 weeks after a hamstring problem in the Sheffield Shield earlier this month. He equalled the record for the fastest fifty in the Big Bash League and finished ninth on the charts with 243 runs at a strike rate of 148.17. His first-class season had begun with a shoulder concern, but they were laid to rest during a double-century against Victoria in Brisbane. With form behind him, Lynn could have filled the vacancy left by Jacques Kallis, who retired from all forms of the game last year.
Venky Mysore, the Knight Riders chief executive, admitted losing Lynn and Neesham was untimely, but was confident that Mahmood and Botha would excel.
Mahmood's vast experience - he has played 213 T20s - and knowledge of Indian conditions worked in his favour. He has played two seasons in the IPL for Kings XI Punjab - 2012 and 2013 - and made 382 runs at a strike-rate of 129.05. In 22 matches, he has also taken 29 wickets at an economy rate of 7.61.
Botha, who played three seasons with Rajasthan Royals and then turned out for Daredevils in 2013, was picked by the coach Trevor Bayliss as cover for allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, who will miss a part of the IPL due to national commitments since Bangladesh are scheduled to host Pakistan from April 15.
Botha had an average BBL as a bowler, but as captain he led Adelaide Strikers into the semi-final. "He is the Shakib type of player," Mysore said. "Whenever Shakib is unavailable Botha fits in in with similar skills."
Shakib is likely to play the first two matches at Eden Gardens - the tournament opener against Mumbai Indians on April 8 and three days later against Royal Challengers Bangalore. "He will play as many games as possible before and after the Pakistan tour," Mysore said. "BCB has been most cooperative with us and keeping mind the Pakistan schedule he will be allowed to play to the extent possible."

KKR Might PullOut Of Ipl If Naraine Not Allowed To Play

With just eight days to go for the start of the eighth edition of the IPL, there is controversy in the air. The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders are on a collision course with the BCCI regarding offspinner Sunil Narine's participation in the tournament.
Narine was banned for his suspect action during the 2014 Champions League Twenty20 and he could not play in the final against the Chennai Super Kings, which KKR lost by eight wickets . He was not picked for the West Indies tour to India in November and he opted out of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. He modified his action and was cleared by the ICC during his biomechanical test in Loughborough. However, in Narine's case, the ICC did not organise the test as he was not called during an international match. He was called during the Champions League Twenty20, a tournament that is run by the BCCI. According to the rules in the BCCI, since he was called for a second time, he was banned from bowling in any BCCI-organised tournament.
According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, the BCCI has refused to accept the report submitted by the ICC and has insisted the offspinner undergoes another round of testing at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai. However, according to sources, KKR is contemplating legal action against the BCCI. Reports also say that if Narine is not allowed to play in the IPL, KKR might pull out of the tournament.
The team is pointing out that since the bowler was cleared by the ICC, there is no need for a second test and the management is firm that it will not force Narine to undergo another test. The team has met BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and have told him that Narine has been 'targeted'.
They pointed out that Narine was not called for chucking during the IPL but his action was suddenly found illegal in two consecutive matches in the CLT20. Dalmiya's office has confirmed that the matter has reached the president's table and that a decision could be taken in a day or two. KKR chief executive officer Venky Mysore has refused to confirm or deny the reports about his team speaking to Dalmiya.
Meanwhile, in another development, KKR have gotten in Johan Botha and Azhar Mahmood as replacements for Chris Lynn and Jimmy Neesham. Neesham will miss the IPL due to a stress fracture in his back while Lynn is in doubt for the whole tournament due to a hamstring injury. Mysore tweeted about this development on his twitter handle

The fans want to see him rip apart those bowling attacks with his array of pull, cut and aggressive hitting shots.

06

He also holds the record of fastest fifty by an Australian and has won hearts of Indian fans with his explosive batting for the Kings XI Punjab franchisee in the IPL.

He is mischievous, smiles and has fun on the field. He is also aggressive, competitive and a total team man. The fans love him for his big sixes and fast batting and also for giving 100% to his team on the field.  No one can forget him playing through cancer during the 2011 World Cup, just for the sake of the team and the fans, in order to win the World Cup.

Pollard was not chosen for the 2011 World Cup, but he will be back in India for the IPL, a tournament where he entertains with his bat and fans love him for doing that.

09

He has atleast 4 50s in under 20 balls, 2 centuries in under 50 balls and has hit 4 sixes in an over against Harbhajan Singh.
Also a quality leg spinner, his trademark poses of raising his hands and pointing his fingers upwards after taking wickets is one of the most endeared sites in cricket. Known as Lala to his fans and friends, he has god like status in his native Pakistan and is revered in neighboring India and Sri Lanka.

10

Suresh Raina is like that energizer bunny on the field. Electric on the field and the first person to congratulate the bowler and the catcher when any wicket falls, jumping on the bowler or the fielder.
He is also the only Indian batsman who can start hitting sixes from ball one of the innings. He rolls his arm over when teams needs and has even led India on few occasions. One of the few players in IPL not to miss a single match for his team, he energizes everyone in the team, encourages them with his top class fielding and attacking batting.
Fans love him for his infectious smile and his willingness to go closer to the fans to shake hands, sign autographs and take pic. Raina’s biggest fan following is of children because he is easily accessible to kids for charity programs and events. His ability to entertain on the field comes from his ability to enjoy his game every moment he is on the field.

11

Yusuf Pathan’s entertainment value lies in his ability to send the ball into orbit with alarming frequency. A 3 time IPL winner and 2 time ICC World Cup winner, Yusuf Pathan knows just one way of batting, bludgeoning the bowling attacks he faces to all parts of the ground.
Physically intimidating and powerful in build, he holds the record of fastest hundred in IPL in just 37 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2 in 2009. Whenever he comes into bat, the expectations of seeing fireworks in the audience heightens to dizzying levels and fans cheer his every six and four hit on the ground.
One of the biggest draws in the IPL, Pathan also is endeared by the fans because he doesn’t get involved in fights and is one of the best role models for aspiring cricketers and young fans.

Statics of India Vs Australia Worldcup

Credit RAJNIKANT VS CID JOKES

As Australia won over Pakistan in the quarter-final match, they will now face India in the semis. So I guess it is the perfect time to look at some statistics about previous India-Australia meetings in the world cup.

1. Previous World Cup Meetings -

India and Australia have played against each-other for ten times in all the previous cricket world-cups. While India has won 3 matches among the ten, Australia leads with 7 victories.
1

2. India’s Semi-Final Record -

India have been to the semis five times before this world cup. Among the five matches, India have won three (1983,2003, 2011) & lost two (1987 and 1996)
2

3. Australia’s Semi-Final Record -

Australia has a better record than India in this case. They have been to semis six times before this world cup. Among the six matches, they only had a tie-game with South Africa in 1999 and they have won the other five semi-final matches.
3

4. India’s Record On Sydney Cricket Ground -

India have played only one world-cup match in Sydney against Pakistan in 1992. India won that match but Pakistan won the tournament. The “famous” Javed Miandad vs Kiran More thing happened in this match.

5. Australia’s Record On Sydney Cricket Ground -

Australia have played three world cup matches in Sydney. Among the three matches, they have won only one time and that too in this world cup against Sri-Lanka.

7. India Have Some Advantage -

If the semi-final match is called off, India will advance to the final as they finished higher than Australia in the group-stage.
007

8. Spin-Pitch -

The pitch of Sydney will most likely favour spinners. India has some of the most versatile spinners in the world right now while Australia depends on pace-bowlers.
