Over 300 People Arrested For Aiding And Abetting Cheating In Bihar Board Exams |
Police arrested over
300 persons for aiding and abetting cheating in matriculation exams from
various parts of Bihar on Saturday, a day after chief minister Nitish
Kumar expressed his deep agony over such incidents and ordered the respective
districts administrations to crack down.
Over
half of those arrested were from Vaishali, particularly Mahnar, where a farce
has been played out ever since Bihar School Examination Board examinations
began on March 17.
Kumar
had, while expressing his anger, said, that such rampant resort to cheating had
belittled the image of Bihar and the state would severely crackdown on such
incidents.
"I
have ordered the administration to stop cheating in the ongoing matriculation
examination," he told media, even as the Patna high court and the Bihar
Human Rights Commission vent their frustration and directed the state to take
action.
Kumar's
order to ensure cheating-free matriculation examination had its impact on
Saturday, with the police arresting hundreds of persons from outside
examination centres.
Additional
director general of police (headquarters), Gupteshwar Pandey said 150 persons,
including parents and relatives, have been arrested from different exam centres
in Vaishali alone.
The
rest of the arrests have been made from Araria (45), Madhubani and elsewhere,
the ADG said.
Additional
Bihar Military Police personnel have been deployed in Vaishali and Nawada for
conduct of fair examination, said Pandey, who is in touch with SPs of all the
districts.
Vaishali
has gained notoriety in the last couple of days for mass scale use of unfair
means in matriculation examination.
Visuals
of parents climbing three to four storeyed buildings to provide chits to their
wards were from this district.
Examination
was cancelled in two centres in Mahnar in Vaishali district and in two other
centres in Saharsa and Nawada districts on Friday following visuals of
mass-scale cheating there went viral.
